Reservoir Update

June 14, 2008 - 6:01 PM

Coralville Lake Elevation:

  • Current Stage: 716.91 Ft. (exceeding the spillway by 5 feet)
  • Tomorrow's Forecast: 716.90 Ft. (Yes, you read that right)
  • Data is becoming spotty on inflow / outflow numbers - they are not keeping up
This event is consistently exceeding all forecasts and predictions. I suspect that the current forecasts for river height and flow are no longer accurate.

    Hi Josh,
Where did you get the info about the possibility of the dam breaking in 41 hours?

  • Josh said on June 14, 2008 - 7:08 PM

It's not 41 hrs - it was more like 83. I was just doing some simple math and unit conversions based on current flow rates. That was assuming constant flow rates, which is not really realistic - or is it?

The best I can tell the flow rate isn't constant, it's increasing. If the dam was to break.........Yikes! I don't even want to think about it.........
